Overnight Leaders

With 3 events for the men done BYU is the leader after Day 1 with 17.5 points. Washington is in second with 11 points on the win of Scott Roth. Kansas, Texas Tech, and Illinois State are tied for third with 10 points each.

With 3 events for the women done there are 5 teams that share the lead with 10 points each, Duke after the win in the 10k from Juliet Bottorff, Northwestern St. after the win from Trecey Rew in the discus, Southern Miss. after the long jump win from Tori Bowie, Arizona with a third place from Jennifer Bergman in the 10k and a fifth place from Baillie Gibson in the discus, and Arizona State with a second place from Anna Jelmini in the discus and a seventh place from Christabell Nety in the long jump. 

Day 2 should prove just as exciting if not more with finals in the Men's Hammer, Women's Javelin, Women's High Jump, and Men's Long Jump for the field events. The only track final is the Men's 10k. The Women's Heptathlon starts tomorrow as well and the Men's Decatlon finishes.
