The first race was the Women's 40m hurdles which was won by Zuzana Hejnová of the Czech Republic in 54.38. In second was Perri Shakes-Drayton of GBR with a season best time of 54.77, with Russian Natalya Antyukh in third with a time of 55.45. Jamaican Nickiesha Wilson finished fourth and American Queen Harrison was fifth.
The race was completely controlled by Hejnová. She looked the best over the hurdles and the quickest, especially down the home stretch.
