Halima Hachlaf of Morocco wins surprising Caster Semenya of South Africa and Maria Savinova of Russia. Hachlaf won in a personal best 1:58.27 a new world lead by .02. Savinova finished second in a time of 1:58.44 a seasons best and Semenya finished third in a seasons best 1:58.61. After the pacer steped off Semenya was leading up until 100 to go. Then Savinova started to kick and barely was in front of Semenya when Hachlaf came on the outside to kick past both in the last 10 meters to win.
